This Time It’ll Be Different…

Have you ever said that to yourself?  Have you ever gone through something in your life that has made you re-think some of your past decisions?  Have you ever just put on your brakes and said, “This is the day. This is the day I’m going to take responsibility for creating the life and business I’ve always wanted”.  Would you believe many business owners have these feelings and thoughts numerous times in their career?

Yes, at this point you can ask yourself, “So what?”  If we all go through it, what’s the big deal?  Here’s the BIG DEAL!  The difference between entrepreneurs who create wildly successful businesses and those who don’t is what one does when they decide that “This time it will be different”!

Is there anything in your business that you want to be different?  Do you take steps every single day to make those differences a reality?  The fact is, most business owners get so wrapped up in the minutia of putting out fires all day, they have no time to gain forward momentum!

Here are some small, easy to implement actions you should take immediately if you want things to “Be different” starting today!

Do a business “Brain dump”!
Let’s keep this simple.  Grab a legal pad, a pen, shut off your phone and isolate yourself for 15 minutes.  Set a timer.  Hit the timer and start making a list of everything you would like to change about your business.  Don’t hold back!  Put your pen on paper and let your subconscious go to work.

Evaluate
Review your list and ask yourself these questions:

  • What items can I control?
  • Why do I want to change this?
  • How will my life be different once this item IS changed?
  • Highlight the THREE things you would like to change immediately

Take small actions every day
Start with the THREE items you highlighted and make a list of EVERY action you can think of to make this change happen. (If you don’t know what to do, finding advice or researching the answer should be one of the steps on your list)

Don’t let a day go by without taking an action on one of your “immediate” changes.

This is your starting point!  ZERO action always turns into zero change.  Baby steps are always better than no steps.  Keep it simple and get started.  TODAY is always the best time to start!
